Foreshore in April

Chine Colle originated in the Far East several hundred years ago and was used to enhance the surface quality of paper for printing woodcuts - one sheet of paper was added to another in the impression process.  I paste the paper to the etching and aquatint image not for the surface quality but for pictorial reasons: the subtle tones, colours, geometric and organic shapes amplify the mysterious qualities of the landscape and the randomly scattered artifacts that occur within it.
